A vintage cot for a modern family

A vintage cot for a modern family

The owner of this piece commissioned me to restore it back it's original beauty.
It's all in the prep. You can really see the difference in a piece when you take a little extra time to prepare it properly. I started out by removing the old paint (three layers of white and pink) which revealed the beautiful flowing woodgrain underneath. We originally planned to paint it all white but it seemed a shame to cover the grain, luckily the owner agreed and we went for a two tone look.
Onto the hardware. The beautiful castors and fittings needed a lot of work before they were repainted ready to rebuild.
I used #frenchic whitey white for the white panels and #Rustins varnish for the wood detail. Of course I used my favourite #twofussyblokes rollers to apply the paint for a perfectly smooth finish.
I made sure to photograph the beautiful decals extensively before sanding. I hand painted the illustrations back onto the new surfaces before sealing it all with Frenchic Finishing Coat
I'm over the moon that the owners are happy with the finished product and it was lovely to see it go home.
