These fab pine chairs were showing a lot of signs of age but luckily for them their owner saw their potential rather than replacing them.
One of the difficult parts of this job is judging how much work a piece will need until you get stuck in. That was certainly the case with these. The old layers of varnish were particularly stubborn to remove and prepare for painting, the legs had become loose from years of use so they had to be mended and one missing spindle needed to be replaced. But in the end the extra work was totally worth the result. Can't wait to see these returned to their rightful spot in a beautiful country kitchen.
