Beautility cocktail sideboard

Here she is. My refinished mid century #Beautility cocktail sideboard. Its size gives it a bold presence which is softened by the gentle curves which move throughout. It was my most intimidating project to date for many reasons. Along with the damage, seen and unseen, to the veneer I wanted to make sure the image I had in my head was right for it. I'm really pleased with the result. I chose a deep blue for the colour and finished it with a coat of matt varnish to protect it. All original brass fittings are still attached including a stunning lion's head handle right at the centre. The interiors are the original wooden finish but I gave them a refresh by sanding and varnishing them to remove years of stain build up and highlight the stunning warmth within.
The scroll work on the cupboard handles was hidden by layers of thick dull varnish. I spent a lot of time carefully removing the layers and refinishing them so you can truly appreciate the craftsmanship.
My favourite features to see on furniture are dovetails and this beauty has them in spades.
The centre door slides down into a serving tray for the mirrored cabinet within. Can you see yourself mixing a classic cocktail here?
