Why do they call it the blues... for me it's one of the happiest colours there is and you certainly won't be feeling blue looking at this beauty.
When this vintage chest of drawers came to me it had thick layers of white emulsion on it which resulted in drips in some places and obscured the detail in others. The key to a good upcycle / furniture refinishing project is preparation, if you don't have a good foundation you won't have a good strong finish that will last. In this case the last person to refinish this piece left thick layers of varnish under the paint which meant it had started to chip and fortunately for me meant the paint stripping process was easier than usual.
After stripping the paint and varnish I got to work on some small repairs and decided that it needed a pop of colour but I wanted to keep some of the original wood on view.
I went for Moody Blue by #Frenchic applied using Two Fussy Blokes rollers and Frenchic Paint browning wax on the top and legs. All products soured from Treacy's Decor Albany Roscommon It all felt a bit too perfect so I used the browning wax over the paint to give it some character and age.
