These chairs have come a long way. Stamped 1936 on the back, I picked them up last year and they've been hold up in my shed until I knew what they needed. Now they would make the perfect occasional chairs for any home.
Originally cane seated I removed the more recent padding and the original disintegrating cane left behind. I couldn't paint them, instead I sanded them back, treated them and went with @frenchicpaint browning wax to finish which highlights the stunning wood grain so perfectly. The beautiful celtic carving in the back was a first for me, so simple but perfect for these beauties. All that was left was to add a new seat (with plenty of padding) finished with cream fabric and hemp rope.
